Fest Fever

Today starts the second weekend of Jazz Fest, and I am anxiously awaiting Saturday, which will be my first day attending this year! In the meantime I put together a quick little outfit post. This fringe vest is my favorite thing to throw on this time of year before it gets too scorching hot to have any extra layers on and my new wedges I scored at TJ Maxx after striking out at my first trip to DSW. Now, of course I would not wear wedges to a festival but had to incorporate the newest addition to my wardrobe in an outfit post. I love Army green and neon yellow together, so this comfy tank and linen shorts were a great blank canvas to the printed vest & neon necklace. I placed my metallic clutch inside a reusable mesh grocery bag and tied my new colorful rope belt around the handle for a cool summertime tote (still wanting to add some handles to it like this DIY)

Happy Festing!!

The Ladies Contemporary department at Saks has so many great brands that offer a wide range of styles and trends for every type of customer. There are 3 trends in particular that have been predominant for Spring throughout the contemporary racks – Floral, distressed denim, and color infused lace. This weekend Saks New Orleans will be celebrating the Ladies Contemporary department and all of the outstanding styles we have to offer our customers! I have had so much fun working at Saks since I started in October and I hope you will come join me in celebrating CONTEMPORARY WEEK!

From now until Sunday, customers will receive a Splendid tote bag with a $250 purchase, and will get a $50-$300 gift card for spending anywhere from $350-$2,000 (amount breakdown below). All the fun will go down on Saturday though! There will be a DJ, refreshments, a lash bar, and blo blow dry bar who will be incorporating  flowers into their styles to go along with the spring trend!

And I couldn’t let this opportunity go by without styling some outfits myself! Each representing one of the trends of color infused lace, floral, and distressed denim.

NOLA Fashion Week: Matthew Arthur + What I Wore

0 Comments so far

Mat’s collection was a perfect mixture of both feminine and masculine styles on each sex. The males embraced the feminine styles such as tights worn with short shorts, an ankle length purple kaftan, and a kilt, while the ladies rocked some masculine silhouettes including military style tops, ascot ties and vests paired with sexy skirts. The simple color palette of camel and khaki with pops of purple plaid and vintage looking prints mixed in, complimented the entire collection perfectly.

I of course had to wear some Mat Arthur to his show myself! I received so many compliments on that top. Whether they knew right away that it was Mat’s or not, everyone loved it, as did I!

NOLA Fashion Week: Izavel + Blackout + What I Wore

0 Comments so far

Last night’s NOLA Fashion Week shows were full of black magic! Although that was the name of Blackout’s collection, the first show I attended, Izavel also lacked in color. Don’t get me wrong, that is not a bad thing! Color is not needed when you have such an interesting collection of structural shapes, getting more intricate with every look.

Snapped some pics with Lana in between the shows. Loved our outfit combo of stripes, polka dots, floral, and black & white with pops of pastel!

Blackout. by Ashlie Ming was so wearable, I could see so many people in any one of the looks from this collection. The last look stood out from the rest of the all black collection with a flowy, light pink dress with splatter print and a mesh scarf. That was my personal favorite, and would wear that any day!

And now, for my own fashion show, on the crosswalk catwalk! I call this collection, Stripes, on Stripes, on Stripes.

I don’t need a blogger boyfriend photographer, I have Lana’s (well fiance now). Thanks Myrt for the pics!

And as I do my outfit credits, I realize it’s almost all from Forevs! Yay fashion on a budget!

Skeleton Krewe Style

0 Comments so far

Well Mardi Gras is over, so while everyone recovers from a week of parading and partying, here is a fun outfit post inspired by the Skeleton Krewe, who march in Krewe D’Etat which rolls the Friday before Mardi Gras Day. The parade starts with the walking Skeleton Krewe handing out wooden dabloons and passing out the parade bulletin. My dad is part of this krewe and every year, makes a new paper mache skeleton head to walk the route. I just recently got these floral pants and skeleton tank from Abeille (which I LOVE together), and thought it was perfect to wear to go watch the Skeleton Krewe march, and to pose with a previous year’s skeleton head!

DIY Holiday Box Clutch

0 Comments so far

Are you feeling naughty or nice this holiday season? I had the idea to make this clutch so you can choose which side to wear it on depending on your mood. I used these plastic boxes, vinyl letters, and some christmas bulbs. For the second one I used modge podge, glitter, a metal bow from a napkin holder, and a jingle bell. Sorry, this is more of an outfit post than a step by step DIY, but you get the point. You can do so many fun/festive designs on these boxes for that perfect statement bag for all your holiday parties! They really are the perfect size for all your necessities too!

Sister Style!

0 Comments so far

In between the cooking madness in my moms kitchen, and stuffing our bellies full of deliciousness on Thanksgiving, Ciera and I took a break to take some sister style photos to share with yall! I kept it comfy a casual with leggings and a tie waist tunic (knowing it would probably need to be loosened throughout the day…) and threw on my new J. Crew necklace to add a little something special to this otherwise ordinary outfit.

My pumpkin risotto in the making // Clementine place settings my mom made // The ridiculous amount of food my plate ended up with!

Head over to Ciera’s blog to see some more photos from the day and for her outfit details.

Last of NOLAFW – Andrea Loest

Since this post is so late, I’m going to make it short & sweet. Here are pictures from the last show of NOLAFW from the Andrea Loest S/S 2013 Collection and what I wore. The shows were hosted at The Saratoga apartments with some of the rooms open to peruse… and a perfect opportunity, that I’m sure many took advantage of, for an outfit shoot!

…and here’s Lana in her Amanda DeLeon sequin panties looking like a cutie!

And these handsome fellas…

Yea, we know we look good… never take yourself too serious!

Now let the show begin!

Hairball…

Katie and Rachel always looking their best!

And the after party at Bellocq with Katie & Blake.

NOLA Fashion Week Kickoff Party

Though New Orleans Fashion Week is over and last week’s news, I am still trying to catch up on my posts from that week while juggling starting a new full time job at Saks Fifth Avenue y’all! It has been a busy and exhausting past 2 weeks, but am excited about what’s to come from it!

NOLAFW’s Kickoff Party was held on a Saturday, following Retail Shopping Day, which I participated in with Loft 3H earlier that day. NOLA Fashion Council was generous enough to provide me with a room at The Hotel Modern (the “it” place to stay during this fashion filled week) for a place to rest my head after the night of festivities. And of course I took the opportunity to do an outfit shoot beforehand.

The crisp, white bedding was just too pristine for me, I had to mess it up a little and relive some childhood fun before heading out for the night. The bright, over the bed table provided the perfect place to display my shoes while doing so!

They offered us a yummy cocktail as we checked in, and these shots are from me goofing around and sneaking a sip while Ciera was setting up the self timer for our shots together.

And we’re off to party! Stay tuned for my final post from NOLAFW’s one night of shows I was able to attend (sad face).
