This runway look is from the Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2013 collection. This collection was filled with bright colors, intricate plunging necklines, flowy tapered bottoms, and lots of sequins!!

1. Top (similar/similar) // 2. Necklace // 3. Belt // 4. Pants (similar/similar) // 5. Sunglasses // 6. Pumps (Sorry, some of the items I chose to use are currently sold out so I provided links to similar ones)

I had to share some of the rest of the collection as well incase you have not seen it, or are not familiar with how amazing DVF is! It blew me away, and it’s not  common that you can say,  ”I would wear everything in that collection” but for this one, I would!

And since I’m so obsessed, I went on a hunt for y’all (and myself) to find similar items, found in the links below each image. Enjoy!

Runway to Everyday :: Fashion Week Series :: Thakoon Spring 2013

Fashion Week just wrapped up last week in New York, so that means it’s time for some runway inspiration! The designers showcased their Spring 2013 collections, so even though we are not even in Fall yet, these looks will help you get ahead on the trends to come, in a more affordable, everyday manner! This look from Thakoon’s collection is feminine and whimsical yet completely polished. I love to combination of the flowing sheer floral bottom with the crisp white peplum button up.

1. Floral Crop Top // 2. Peplum Blouse // 3. Sheer Skirt // 4. White Heels

Designer Inspired: Dolce & Gabbana

I did another designer inspired outfit shoot, this time inspired by the pepper print pieces in Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection. The entire collection featured 50′s inspired silhouettes with bold vegetable prints inspired by outdoor markets in Italy during the Summertime. Love, love, loved this whole collection! I was especially fond of the cropped bustier top with the full skirt, when I first saw it being worn by Dree Hemingway during Coachella.

I found this dress a few years ago at a local second hand store, but tend to only wear it casually around Jazz Fest time (it being a red beans & rice Jazz Fest dress and all). This Dolce & Gabbana collection inspired me to style it differently that I have before, and dress it up a bit so hopefully I will wear it more often!

So that is how I interpreted chili peppers being worn in Italy to red beans on my dress in NOLA! Would you rock this Jazz Fest dress all year round, or strictly save it for festin??

Designer Inspired: Alice + Olivia Floral Pants

I fell in love with these Alice + Olivia wide leg floral pants when I first discovered them through pinterest, and even more when I saw this fun, retro looking photo from their website! I came across my version of these when I was scoping out local boutiques for my ‘Fashionably Festive in NOLA‘ blog post. When I pulled these from the overly crowded racks at Retro Active, I immediately thought, Flowy, high-waisted, wide-leg, floral pants – Alice + Olivia! And for only 20 bucks, I could not pass them up!

I found some props at my parents sign shop that I thought could mimic the scene in the A+O  photo shoot, and these vintage chairs in our backyard fit right in as well.

Get the A+O look above: Top // Pants (or shorts) // Similar Shoes

Get my look: Top: Kensie (I suggest this top for Summer) // Pants: Vintage (Similar) // Shoes: Messeca // Belt: Vintage (Similar) // Necklace: Chloe + Isabel // Earrings: Chloe + Isabel // Resin Bangles: H&M (Similar) // Spike Bangle Set: Chloe + Isabel // Ring: Handmade by me

This photo, from the May Issue of Glamour Magazine, inspired these next two photos of me sitting on the kitchen table. I spotted the pineapple at the last minute and decided to use it in the last few shots, and ended up liking those the best! Not to mention it goes quite well with the Hawaiian style floral.

Stay tuned for more designer inspired looks. Next up is a favorite look of mine from the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012 collection.

Metallic High!

0 Comments so far

I am so excited to share my first blog post, I’m on a metallic high right now! Instead of doing my first “Inspiration” post on sequins like I originally though I would (considering that is the name of my blog!), I could not resist these high shine metallic looks that graced the runways during Fashion Week. I’m pretty sure I had a Mardi Gras costume made out of the same material and color as that amazing pink number up top shown in Chistopher Kane’s Resort 2012 runway show. I would give anything to still have my costume box from my childhood! There are a few pieces in particular that I can remember that I would totally rock in my everyday wardrobe today. Anyway, I digress on costumes very easily! From head (literally) to toe, these major metallic looks from the runway put a sparkle in my eye, so I found some everyday pieces to share as well. From the runway to everyday, enjoy these looks, and shine high!
