New York Fashion Week wrapped up last week, it sure is hard to pick your favorite looks with such a large array of amazing talents showcasing their upcoming lines for Spring/Summer 2014. After flipping through coverage of the shows for hours, I noticed a few repeated design elements that I was loving (sheer, metallic, flowy, layered, midriff, white, floral, and pastels with a punch) so I am going to show you a few of my faves from 6 different designers.
Zimmermann captured most of the mentioned trends all in his one collection. The flowy, sheer florals, mixed with the metallic, and strappy black cropped tops, gives this collection the perfect mixture of femininity with an edge. How are we feeling about the ace bandage ankle strap heels though?
Rachel Zoe shows that the distressed jean and leather trends for Spring are not going anywhere! She shows just the right mixture of casual and luxe with those sequin drawstring pants (sequin crush to the max! Hey Rach, feel free to send me a pair, k thanks!) and distressed jorts with a crisp white button up. The sophisticated, all white, pants look was seen throughout the week as well.
Incredible metallic prints, sheer and sparkly cropped tops, and sun visors? Yes please! Custo Barcelona knows the way to my heart! Even the little pop of print in the straps of the heels – dying! This first look reminds me a lot of Matthew Arthur’s S/S 2012 collection (he was way ahead of the game!)
Altuzarra shows us again that all white, metallic and casual luxe is what it’s all about for Spring 2014. I will gladly mix a perfectly draped, thigh high slit, metallic skirt with a gray henley tee any day!
Forget the Rebecca Minkoff bags ladies, her clothing is where it’s at! I was loving the black incorporated in with the soft florals and bright pastel colors. Those shoes are everything too!
Floral, sheer metallic, black and white, and yes, that’s balloon animal print! All things amazing by Ostwald Helgason. This collection shows you how to layer and play with prints and textures perfectly for spring.
So although fall has not graced us with its presence yet here in the south, I am already looking forward to seeing more of what’s to come next Spring…. And for New Orleans Fashion Week starting next Saturday so stay tuned for more fab coverage of S/S 14 fashion goodness!
