NOLA Fashion Week Kickoff Party

Though New Orleans Fashion Week is over and last week’s news, I am still trying to catch up on my posts from that week while juggling starting a new full time job at Saks Fifth Avenue y’all! It has been a busy and exhausting past 2 weeks, but am excited about what’s to come from it!

NOLAFW’s Kickoff Party was held on a Saturday, following Retail Shopping Day, which I participated in with Loft 3H earlier that day. NOLA Fashion Council was generous enough to provide me with a room at The Hotel Modern (the “it” place to stay during this fashion filled week) for a place to rest my head after the night of festivities. And of course I took the opportunity to do an outfit shoot beforehand.

The crisp, white bedding was just too pristine for me, I had to mess it up a little and relive some childhood fun before heading out for the night. The bright, over the bed table provided the perfect place to display my shoes while doing so!

They offered us a yummy cocktail as we checked in, and these shots are from me goofing around and sneaking a sip while Ciera was setting up the self timer for our shots together.

And we’re off to party! Stay tuned for my final post from NOLAFW’s one night of shows I was able to attend (sad face).

NOLA Fashion Week at Loft 3H

NOLA Fashion Week kicked off last Saturday with Retail Shopping Day where I joined Loft 3H for a wonderful day full of fashion, offering my style advice to shoppers! Leather seemed to be the theme for all my NOLAFW outfits, as you will see in my next few posts. For this daytime event I threw on a comfy tee and wooden statement necklace with my leather mini.  If you have not not been to Loft 3H yet, it’s time you stop by. They have an amazing selection of merchandise, at even better prices!

A Spooky, Sparkly, DIY Halloween

Watch out Pinterest, I’ve got all the DIY pumpkin options you’ll ever want to recreate right here!

I went mainly with a gold theme, and you know what that means…. lots of GLITTER!! For the skull head I gave it a light coat with gold paint and shaded darker in the crevices, then painted on modge podge and sprinkled glitter in the eye & nose parts.

I had two of these veiled fascinators on a hat form that I thought could add some creepiness to my display. This spider ring that I found at Michael’s went perfectly on the veil, resembling a spider web even more.

The two gold pumpkins are fake ones that I bought at Michael’s and spray painted gold. I stuck gold thumb tacks down the ridges of one pumpkin, and on the other, created an ombre effect with gold glitter.

My sister and I had a fun pumpkin decorating party together. To see the steps for her color block pumpkins below head over to Ciera Design.

All of these DIY pumpkins are really quick and easy to make, so you can still get your home spooky & sparkly in time for Halloween!

This runway look is from the Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2013 collection. This collection was filled with bright colors, intricate plunging necklines, flowy tapered bottoms, and lots of sequins!!

1. Top (similar/similar) // 2. Necklace // 3. Belt // 4. Pants (similar/similar) // 5. Sunglasses // 6. Pumps (Sorry, some of the items I chose to use are currently sold out so I provided links to similar ones)

I had to share some of the rest of the collection as well incase you have not seen it, or are not familiar with how amazing DVF is! It blew me away, and it’s not  common that you can say,  ”I would wear everything in that collection” but for this one, I would!

And since I’m so obsessed, I went on a hunt for y’all (and myself) to find similar items, found in the links below each image. Enjoy!
