INVADE NOLA Fashion Issue Release Party

0 Comments so far

“If there’s one thing we Invaders love, I’d have to say it’s fashion. But, even more than that, Invaders love to party. Mix the two and you have the beginnings of an amazing shindig. This event will feature music from WTUL’s A Boy Named Ruth, yummy appetizers, and a Fashionista Photo Booth.”

I am super excited about this event for a few different reasons – First of all a fashionista photo booth?? Sounds like my kinda party! Secondly, I was asked to be featured in this issue, so yay me! And third, you know if the words ‘party’ and ‘fashion’ are in the same sentence, I’m there!

Hope you all will check out the Issue and join INVADE NOLA and I for a fun night!

Runway to Everyday :: Fashion Week Series :: Thakoon Spring 2013

0 Comments so far

Fashion Week just wrapped up last week in New York, so that means it’s time for some runway inspiration! The designers showcased their Spring 2013 collections, so even though we are not even in Fall yet, these looks will help you get ahead on the trends to come, in a more affordable, everyday manner! This look from Thakoon’s collection is feminine and whimsical yet completely polished. I love to combination of the flowing sheer floral bottom with the crisp white peplum button up.

1. Floral Crop Top // 2. Peplum Blouse // 3. Sheer Skirt // 4. White Heels

Lovely Day For A Stroll + A Giveaway!!

The weather here in NOLA has been not quite so miserably hot as it has been the past few weeks, and I am ready for fall y’all! I have already started incorporating my fave fall pieces (the ones that are bearable in this heat) into my outfits. Recently sporting my new glittered ankle boots (DIY coming soon) with cut off shorts, today instead I pulled out my seamed knit pants from Free People (In Black), and added a lightweight year round scarf to my flowy summery tank.

Picking out jewelry has been easy since I got my script name necklace from Abeille NOLA. I have worn it every day since I got it! I like to pair it with another short dainty necklace like this recent find from Urban or a longer chunky necklace. Don’t you just love it? Well y’all are in luck today because Abeille is going to give one of my readers their very own personalized name necklace!!

Bring Your Fashion Sense Home – Feature in Blog Trends Magazine

I am so excited to announce my contribution to Blog Trends newest  venture – Blog Trends Magazine! This first issue is a sample to give readers an idea of what to expect in future issues. Take a look and see how I incorporate my personal style into aspects of my home in 3 ways.

COLOR: Color block your room.

Color blocking and mixing bold colors is a major trend right now in the world of fashion. This trend translates very well in home decor. For my office, I chose three colors I really love together (mint green, citron yellow, and poppy red); I painted some old frames turned cork boards and shelves for the main wall in the room.

REPURPOSE: Turn something old into a new and exciting piece that shows your style.

I love thrifting and reinventing items to make them new again. Both this dresser and these pants were thrifted. The dresser got a paint job including a stenciled on pattern and some mixed vintage hardware. It now has a new and very important purpose as my jewelry armoire! The pants were part of a not so stylish 2 piece suit that just needed a quick cuff and some fun accessories.

TEXTURE: Mix textures to create visual interest in an outfit as well as in your home.

An all neutral outfit or space does not have to be boring. I like to mix neutrals in my outfits with different textures or finishes, such as leather, lace, and metallic, then add colorful accessories. The same goes for a space in your home. I have neutral silk, lace, and fur in my accessory nook, and, well, the accessories do the rest. My mom’s dog decided to join me in this shot, fitting in just perfectly!

Hope you have enjoyed a peak into my home and are inspired to incorporate your own sense of style into your living space! I look forward to contributing more to Blog Trends Magazine, so make sure you follow them to keep up with future issues!
