Code Red!

While this is no hospital emergency announcement, I am hoping to spread the awareness of National Wear Red Day. The goal of the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women® movement, is to share the truth about heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women. This post is about how to wear the color red if you’re not ready to try the head to toe monochromatic trend! I hope it will inspire you to participate, and rock your red frocks on Friday, February 3rd for National Go Red Day!

RED WITH MAGENTA

This is one of my fav color combo crushes of the moment! This look has the feel of being monochromatic without every piece being the exact same shade. Pair red pants or jeans with a bright magenta top, and red blazer. Instead of going with nude or black for your shoes & handbag, stick to a darker berry/maroon shade to balance out the brightness of the outfit.

1. Blazer // 2. Top // 3. Purse // 4. Nail Polish // 5. Bootie // 6. Pants // 7. Bangles

NEUTRALS WITH POPS OF RED

This is an easy way to pull off wearing red. Your outfit should consist of mostly neutrals, in this case navy & tan. Add pops of red with accessories or with a print in one of your neutral pieces (extra points if it’s hearts!)

1. Sweater // 2. Cuff // 3. Bracelet // 4. Skirt // 5. Shoes // 6. Purse

RED & BLACK BOLD PRINTS

Try a large geometric print or tribal print for a bolder statement. If you have a larger print like this dress, try a different, smaller print in your accessories like this tribal clutch, or leopard even!

1. Necklace // 2. Dress // 3. Ring // 4. Clutch // 5. Wedge // 6. Lipstick

Valentines day is soon approaching too, so these tips can help you in planning your attire for that day/evening, weather you have a hot date, hanging with your besties, or not doing a damn thing, like me! (actually I will probably be planning my Mardi Gras costume since it will only be a week away by then!)

XOXO, Jasmine

Warm December

…maybe this year I will be able to wear a coat! My sister came in town from Boston for Christmas, so we spent the day in the French Quarter on my day off. This was four days before Christmas, and it was HOT! The next day it was gloomy and cold…. aaahhh New Orleans!

I tried to keep my outfit semi fall looking by wearing patterned tights, ankle boots, and scarf. I even had to take my scarf off for a bit when walking around in the beaming sun and tied it to my purse. I kept the colors bright, unlike the dark or neutral hues we usually associate with fall which just would not have been fit for such a bright and fun day!
